Rémy Mertz is in good shape. 28th of the GP La Marseillaise, our Walloon rider has had a very good winter, without any physical problems. His preparation has been ideal the Etoile de Bessèges has to confirm his form for the big moments of the spring.
« Our victories and podiums at the Tropicale Amissa Bongo have put the team in a positive spiral. And our riders in the Saudi Tour are also well in sight. »
Rémy Mertz. « I had a very good winter, with no illness or injury, and my collaboration with our new coach Jon Wiggins is perfect. I’m starting the season in good shape. I had a good feeling at the GP La Marseillaise and that gave me confidence for Bessèges. The first stage of the Etoile de Bessèges is likely to have some ‘bordures’, I don’t know the second stage well. I know the route of the third stage, which passes in front of my parents’ house: it will therefore be the one that suits me best and where I will have to show myself. The fourth stage, with the Mont Bouquet, is very typical of climbers. I know that the level of the race in Bessèges will be high; we have a strong team to aim for the general classification and to catch the breakaways.
« I was supposed to race the Tour de Provence, which was cancelled. So my programme has changed and I will ride the Tour of Antalya and the Tour du Haut-Var. »
